(SportsNetwork.com) - The Edmonton Oilers will try to pick up their first victory in over three weeks when they host the Arizona Coyotes in Mondays encounter at Rexall Place. The Oilers have lost nine straight since earning a road win against the New York Rangers on Nov. 9. The skid is Edmontons longest since going 0-8-3 from March 8-31, 2011. Edmonton is 0-6-3 on its current slide and the clubs two most recent setbacks came in road overtime losses. The Oilers lost 1-0 in Nashville on Thursday before dropping a 4-3 decision the following night in St. Louis. The Oilers led the Blues 3-2 after Mark Arcobellos goal at 3:55 of the third period, but Alex Pietrangelo evened the score with 7:35 left in regulation. Vladimir Tarasenko then scored in the final minute of OT to lift St. Louis to the win. Edmontons Ben Scrivens faced a barrage of St. Louis shots, stopping 37 of the 41 pucks fired his way. David Perron and Nikita Nikitin scored second-period goals for the Oilers, while Taylor Hall added two assists in a losing effort. St. Louis outshot the Oilers 41-16 in the game, but nine of Edmontons shots came in the middle period. When you look at our second period, if we play games like that, we win games, Scrivens said. Edmonton also will try to snap a seven-game home losing streak tonight. The Oilers are 4-8-1 at Rexall Place this season and havent won as the host since beating Montreal 3-0 on Oct. 27. While the Oilers are attempting to halt an epic slide, Arizona enters Monday on a relatively modest three-game losing streak. However, the Coyotes only have managed three wins over their last 11 games, going 3-6-2 during that stretch. The Coyotes hope to stop their skid by staying perfect against Edmonton this season. Arizona has won the first two of five scheduled encounters in 2014-15, picking up a 7-4 home win over the Oilers on Oct. 15 before notching a 2-1 victory Nov. 16 in Edmonton. The Oilers have lost seven of eight and 17 of the past 21 games in this series overall and the Coyotes have claimed four straight and nine of 10 at Rexall Place. Arizona was shut out for the fourth time this season its last time out, as Karri Ramo made 26 saves to lead the Calgary Flames to a 3-0 road victory in the desert. Devan Dubnyk made 26 saves on 29 shots for the Coyotes. We had players I think can do more to create some offense for us, Arizona head coach Dave Tippett said. In this game if you played slow, you didnt play well. Arizona could return to struggling No. 1 Mike Smith in net tonight. Smith is just 4-11-2 with a 3.26 goals against average this season and is 0-5-2 since last picking up a victory on Nov. 7 in Anaheim. However, the 32-year-old does boast a lifetime 9-1-1 record and 2.69 GAA in his career against the Oilers. The Coyotes are opening a two-game road trip that ends tomorrow night in Calgary. They are 5-7-1 away from home this season. Thiago Silva Brazil Jersey .C. -- Benn Ferrieros familiar with scoring important goals, just not in back-to-back games. Ederson Brazil Jersey . Instead, he focused on acquiring depth, of both players and picks, casting a wide net over the two days in Philadelphia. "We had a smattering of everything," said Cheveldayoff. "We got some high skill in the first round, we got a big two-way defenceman early today, and we picked up some more skill, some grit on the wing and then we got some big centremen at the end as well." The Jets made two trades as well, sending the 159th pick and the rights to goalie Eddie Pasquale to the Washington Capitals for the 164th and 192nd picks in this years draft and a seventh-round pick in 2015. The Jets also acquired Ottawas sixth-round pick in 2015 for their 189th pick this year. "We came in with seven picks, and we ended up picking seven players," said Cheveldayoff. "We stockpiled some picks for next years draft, and we did come in saying that if we felt we were going to get our players later in the draft that we could get to see if we could move down. "We ended up acquiring an extra pick when we moved the rights to Eddie Pasquale, so we had some picks that if we could find a way to move into next year to have those assets moving forward, that was something we were looking forward to." The Jets took Jack Glover from the United States under-18 team with the 69th overall pick, their highest pick on the second day of the draft. "Hes got good size, he moves very well, and hes a good two-way defenceman," said Cheveldayoff. "Getting him in the third round is something we were very excited about, becausee where we had him on our list was not in that realm.dddddddddddd When he was available we actually looked at trying to package something to move up into the later parts of the second round, but we couldnt find a match, so we were happy to get a player that we liked." "I like to push the pace," said the six-foot-three, 190-pound Glover, "and to get the puck to the forwards. I definitely think that Im a guy that relies on my skating and my vision, and I think those are my two biggest assets. Im not a big hitter, Im not a big bruiser, but I take great pride in my defensive game." With their fourth-round picks, the Jets took two players from the WHL: centre Chase De Leo from Portland and defenceman Nelson Nogier from Saskatoon. The team used its lone fifth-round pick on left wing Clinston Franklin of the USHL, and wrapped its activity in the sixth and seventh rounds with centre Pavel Kraskovsky from the Russia-Jr. team and centre/left wing Matt Ustaski from the BCHL. De Leo will join his childhood best friend and WHL rival, goalie Eric Comrie, as a Jets prospect. Comrie is the half-brother of NHL players Mike and Paul Comrie. "When we were 10 years old we had a piece of paper and we both signed it, saying that we were going to be teammates in the NHL one day," said De Leo. "Its pretty special and very exciting." Cheveldayoff likes the familiarity between the two prospects. "Its great to see the players in our organization have a bond already even before they get to development camp or training camp," said Cheveldayoff. "We are trying to build one family here, and its great to have a head start on it." ' ' '
